After three decades of laughter, authenticity, perspective, personality and community, the iconic radio duo Rick & Bubba announced that 2024 will be final year of their trademark show.

Rick Burgess and Bill “Bubba” Bussey first teamed up in 1994. Now, after 30 years together, they announced their Alabama-based ‘Rick and Bubba Show’ will be coming to a close.

On Thursday, the pair emphasized the conclusion has nothing to do with their health or personal relationship, with Bubba going as far as to say it “wasn’t something we wanted to hear.”

“We will finish out this year, and we’re going to go wide open and have a great year and have a lot of flashbacks and memories and talk about the last 30 years that, by the way, you folks have made possible,” Bussey said.

Burgess added that the show is not ending right away and that they still have a “long runway” and a “full year” before closing the curtain on their legendary performance.

“We’re not wrapping the show up today, we’ve got a full year to spend together to reminisce and talk and that’s where we need to focus, on celebration. In this business, 30 years of the same product with very little change in the lineup is unheard of. So we have been very blessed and you folks are the ones who have blessed us,” Burgess said.

The show has been heard around the country from 104.7 WZZK in Birmingham and stations around the country for 30 years, and stations around the South as it became nationally syndicated.
