University of Central Florida head football coach Gus Malzahn was involved in a Monday night vehicle accident in Auburn, according to multiple reports.

The former Auburn head football coach emerged from the accident without injury, reports Birmingham’s WVTM 13.

In a statement provided to the outlet, UCF Athletics said Malzahn was in Auburn visiting family after the passing of his father-in-law last month.

“Our football coach, Gus Malzahn, was involved in an automobile accident last night in Auburn, Alabama,” stated the department. “Gus had traveled to Auburn Monday to be with his wife Kristi as they assisted Kristi’s mother (in aftermath of the passing of Kristi’s father). Gus was not injured in the accident.”

One individual was airlifted to the hospital for injuries that are unknown as of reporting time.

Auburn Sports’ Brian Stultz first reported the accident. Additional details surrounding the crash have yet to be released.
