Washington, D.C. –Today, Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL) joined other U.S. House Members in marking the 1,000th day since the U.S. Senate has failed to pass a budget.
Rep. Brooks said, “Funding the government is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of Congress, but today marks 1,000 days since the Senate has passed a budget. To put this in perspective, the last time the Senate approved a budget, Alabama and Auburn had yet to claim their three most recent national championship titles. Or, consider that in less than 1,000 days, our Founding Fathers were able to write, approve, and ratify the entire U.S. Constitution.”
“Americans can get a lot done in 1,000 days, but apparently, the Senate can’t,” Rep. Brooks continued. “It’s time for the Senate to fulfill their responsibility to the American people and get back to work.”
In Less Than 1,000 Days…
- The U.S. Constitution was written, approved, and ratified (May 14, 1787 – June 21, 1788).
- The University of Alabama won two national championships, and Auburn University won one (January 7, 2010, January 10, 2011, January 9, 2012).
