Gov. Kay Ivey has once again been rated as one of the most popular state chief executives in the nation, according to a Morning Consult survey.

The nationwide survey was conducted January 1 through March 31 and consisted of at least 601 registered voters in each state. The results hold a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.

According to the survey, 62% of Alabamians approve of Ivey’s job performance. Her approval rating ranks eighth among all governors and is the highest in the southeastern United States.

Ivey’s reelection campaign on Monday touted Alabamians’ approval of the incumbent governor’s job performance and declared her to be a “fighter for Alabama values.”

“Once again, we see that Governor Ivey is one of the most popular Governors in America. This comes as no surprise given her strong conservative record and Alabama’s thriving economy,” the campaign said in a statement to Yellowhammer News. “Governor Ivey is a fighter for Alabama values, and that’s why she consistently polls so high with Alabama voters.”

The data found by Morning Consult, one of the nation’s most respected research and intelligence firms, mirrors that concluded by the firm in 2021, proving Ivey’s favorability among Alabama’s electorate to be consistent.

Ivey is seeking to serve a second term as Alabama’s 54th governor. Recent polling shows the governor avoiding a runoff, garnering nearly 60% support among voters who are likely to cast ballots in the May 24 primary election.

Should no candidate receive more than 50% of the vote, a runoff election will be held on June 21, 2022.
