As the holiday season enters full swing, Alabama’s blood supply continues to face critical challenges with frequent shortages threatening hospital inventories across the state.

In response, YHN Radio Network affiliates WQSB, WKXX, and Power 107.5 in Albertville are stepping up to support their community with a major blood drive aimed at collecting 105 units of blood for LifeSouth Community Blood Centers.

The Joy of Giving Blood Drive will take place on Tuesday, December 9th, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the WQSB Studios, located at 3770 U.S. Highway 431 in Albertville.

The Sand Mountain Broadcasting radio stations have a long-standing tradition of mobilizing community support for North Alabama, and this blood drive reflects that commitment during a time of critical need.

“There’s a serious hospital blood shortage across the state,” said Barry Galloway, host of the multiple ABBY Award-winning Barry & Holli Morning Show on WQSB-FM. “With the holidays coming up, we need to help restock the hospital blood supply.”

Stepping up to help the North Alabama community is nothing new for Sand Mountain Broadcasting.

The “Barry & Holli Morning Show” has won numerous Alabama Broadcasters Association Awards for broadcast excellence, including honors in recent years for Best Morning Show in Alabama.

Blood shortages typically intensify during the holiday season as regular donors travel or become busy with festivities, while hospital demand remains constant or even increases due to holiday-related accidents and medical emergencies.

Blood donors will receive a free t-shirt for their contribution, and the first 105 donors will receive an additional free gift and qualify to win $105.

Those interested in participating can find more information and register here.

Each blood donation can save up to three lives, making this community effort a potentially life-saving initiative.
