North Alabama golfer named PGA Tour’s Rookie of the Year

Nick Dunlap, a 20-year-old from North Alabama and former University of Alabama golfer, has been named the PGA TOUR’s 2024 Rookie of the Year. This recognition, which includes the Arnold Palmer Award, highlights his historic achievement as the first player in PGA TOUR history to win both as an amateur and as a professional in the same season.

Dunlap began 2024 as a collegiate golfer and won The American Express in January as an amateur, becoming the first amateur winner on the PGA TOUR since 1991. Shortly after, he turned professional and secured another victory at the Barracuda Championship in July. His accomplishments earned him a spot in the FedExCup playoffs, where he advanced to the second round and finished 49th overall. This strong performance qualified him for the PGA TOUR’s 2025 Signature Events.
