Norman Crow named Republican nominee for Alabama House District 63 special election

The Alabama Republican Party has officially named Tuscaloosa City Councilman Norman Crow as its nominee in the upcoming special election for House District 63. The Party announced the selection in a Facebook post on Monday, praising Crow’s record of conservative leadership and public service.

“Congratulations to Tuscaloosa City Councilman Norman Crow on becoming the official Republican nominee in the Special Election for House District 63!” the statement read. “Councilman Crow brings a strong record of public service and conservative leadership to the race. We’re proud to have him representing the Alabama Republican Party in this important election.”

Crow, a Tuscaloosa native, was the first to announce his candidacy for the seat earlier this year, shortly after it became clear that State Representative Cynthia Almond would be vacating the position to accept an appointment as President of the Alabama Public Service Commission. Almond’s resignation officially took effect on June 15.

Crow currently represents District 3 on the Tuscaloosa City Council. He is a former member of the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education. He has chaired the boards of the Boys & Girls Club of West Alabama, the United Way of West Alabama, and the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce.

Professionally, Crow began his career in the energy sector, holding leadership roles at companies including Southern Natural Gas, Tenneco Energy, Duke Energy, Reliant Energy, and Innovative Energy Services. He later owned and operated DT Freight, a local transportation company, and now works as a licensed real estate agent with Hamner Real Estate.

Gov. Ivey set September 30 as the special primary election date, October 28 as the special primary runoff date, and January 13, 2026, as the special general election date for the House District 63 seat.

The seat Crow is running for represents much of downtown Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama’s campus.
