Nick Saban’s mother, Mary Saban Pasko, has passed away at the age of 92, according to a Thursday evening obituary published in the Tuscaloosa News.

Though she was born in Michigan, Saban Pasko spent much of her life in West Virginia where she and Nick Saban Sr. raised young Nick Saban Jr., who would eventually become the greatest coach in the history of college football.

The senior Nick passed away in 1973 of a heart attack and would re-marry Bobby Pasko. With two children including Nick and his sister Dene Thompson along with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Mary lived a full life surrounded by very loving family.

She loved football as much as her son according to the obituary, which shared that she rarely missed a Pop Warner game in high school and college.

“In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to Nick’s Kids Foundation at nickskidsfoundation.org or by mail at 1130 University Blvd. Ste. B9-201, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401,” the obituary says.
