Nick Saban to join President Trump as speaker at University of Alabama commencement

The University of Alabama made national headlines last week when it was announced that President Donald Trump will address graduates in a special commencement ceremony.

As if having the sitting President of the United States address the graduating class didn’t offer enough fanfare, the University has also now revealed that former head coach Nick Saban will also speak at the special event on Thursday, May 1.

The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday at Coleman Coliseum. Those attending are encouraged to arrive at least two hours ahead of time due to enhanced security measures.

Regularly scheduled graduation commencement ceremonies, which take place between May 2 and May 4, are not changed as a result of the event. Doors to Coleman Coliseum are going to open at 3 p.m. and a full list of prohibited can be found on the official website here.

This event marks President Trump’s third visit to the University of Alabama, having previously attended football games at Bryant-Denny Stadium. For Nick Saban, who retired in early 2025 after a storied coaching career, the commencement address offers an opportunity to impart wisdom and encouragement to the graduating class.

Having Saban and Trump in the same building to address students and parents at the University of Alabama will undoubtedly attract a full house crowd.
