HOOVER, Ala. — Former NFL MVP and Super Bowl champ Brett Favre showed up at a volleyball tournament in Hoover Sunday, where 13-year old Guntersville middle school student Davis Hawk had the opportunity to be photographed with the football star.

Favre’s daughter, Breleigh Favre, plays on a team participating in the tournament hosted by the Southern Region Volleyball Association. Hawk, whose sister was playing Favre’s daughter, recognized the 3-time MVP and wanted to meet him.

Sherry Newton, whose daughter Morgan was also playing Favre’s, took Hawk over to where Mr. Favre was speaking with some other parents.

“I poked him on the arm, and I said, ‘Hey Brett, can he have his picture made with you?’ He looked down and he said, ‘Sure!'” Mrs. Newton told Yellowhammer Monday morning.

Mrs. Newton later posted the picture on Facebook.

The Favres currently live in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where Brett volunteered as offensive coordinator with the Oak Grove High School football team in 2013, helping lead them to a state championship.

This is the second celebrity sighting in Alabama in the past week, after Hollywood heartthrob Matthew McConaughey was seen celebrating Mardi Gras in Mobile.
