UAB set to face Miami in Thursday night battle

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Blazers are set to play at Miami (FL) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. CT.

The football game will be UAB’s second of the season and the opener for the Hurricanes.

The Blazers beat Central Arkansas by a score of 45-35 last week, which was the first week of competition for FBS schools.

Miami is favored over UAB with a -14.5 spread on Thursday; the over/under is 54.5.

The Hurricanes are coming off a 6-7 season last year that ended with three consecutive losses. Miami’s new quarterback D’Eriq King, who transferred from Houston, will look to reenergize the program.

UAB hopes to continue being stout on the defensive side of the ball, as the Blazers have finished top-10 nationally in defensive metrics in each of the past two seasons. For example, UAB last year finished eighth in pass defense, 11th in sacks and 14th in tackles for losses.

“We can compete against anybody,” said senior linebacker Kris Moll. “I feel like we have a great team.”

The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
