Wednesday, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Durant released a new TV ad taking aim at President Joe Biden over the U.S. military’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The ad features the former “Black Hawk Down” Army aviator blaming Biden for the deaths of the 13 U.S. service members who were killed by radical Islamic suicide bombers during the final stages of the War in Afghanistan.
The 30-second spot, titled “Tick Tock,” presents footage of U.S. military personnel carrying American flag-draped caskets of the fallen service members during their homecoming ceremony, known formally as a dignified transfer.
At the beginning of the ad, Durant declares, “Why does Joe Biden disgust me? Thirteen dead in Afghanistan. Thirteen more Gold Star families, because of him.”
The ad then pans into a shot of Biden checking his watch during the casket transfer.
“Biden has spent his whole life in politics. And when our men and women came home draped in the flag, he had somewhere else he wanted to be,” says Durant. “Time’s up for Joe Biden and time’s up for career politicians.”
Watch:
In a statement accompanying his ad announcement, Durant suggested that the clock was running out for the commander-in-chief and “career politicians.”
“The Biden administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan makes my blood boil. Biden has been in politics his whole life — and when our men and women came home draped in the flag, dead because of his carelessness, he had somewhere else he wanted to be,” proclaimed Durant. “We need leaders in Washington who understand the consequences of decisions. We need political outsiders with real world experience to protect our country and get the job done. Time’s up for Joe Biden and time’s up for career politicians.”
