Two members of Alabama’s congressional delegation are looking to score bragging rights against their Georgia counterparts over the 2022 College Football Playoff (CFP) national championship game between the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and University of Georgia Bulldogs.
U.S. Reps. Terri Sewell (D-Birmingham) and David Scott (D-GA) are placing a “double or nothing” wager on which team will emerge as the 2022 CFP national champion.
The two members of Congress in December placed bets on the SEC Championship Game, which saw Sewell’s Crimson Tide defeat Scott’s Bulldogs 41-24.
Should Bama emerge victorious in the rematch, Sewell will enjoy a Chick-fil-A lunch and Georgia peach crumble cheesecake courtesy of Scott. If Georgia wins, Sewell will provide Scott with a lunch of Alabama barbecue from Tuscaloosa’s Dreamland Bar-B-Que and sweet potato fries.
Sewell guaranteed that star Tide quarterback Bryce Young and company would fend off the Bulldogs’ defense to win back-to-back national titles.
“Alabama beat the Bulldogs in December and we’ll do it again in January!” declared Sewell. “Good luck stopping Heisman winner Bryce Young! I look forward to enjoying a lunch and dessert courtesy of my friend Rep. David Scott. The Tide is going to Roll in Indianapolis on Monday!”
Scott anticipates his Bulldogs winning the rematch and enjoying a lunch of the famed Dreamland Bar-B-Que.
“There is truly nothing sweeter than a rematch victory against a great rival — especially in the National Championship,” said Scott. “Wishing all the best to our Georgia Bulldogs on Monday — I am looking forward to both the taste of sweet victory over the Crimson Tide and delicious Alabama barbecue from my friend and colleague, Congresswoman Terri Sewell. Here we go Dawgs, sic ‘em!”
For U.S. Reps. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) and Buddy Carter (R-GA), each would like to see the other sport their opposing team’s school colors.
Should Bama reign supreme, Carter has agreed to wear UA crimson and white. If Georgia comes out on top, Carl will be forced to wear UGA red and black.
You’re on, @RepBuddyCarter! I even bought you your own @AlabamaFTBL shirt to wear. #RollTide https://t.co/MewqVmxYc3 pic.twitter.com/GN1n4KjKqa
