U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl cosponsors bill granting public access to Fauci’s financial disclosures

Monday, U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) announced that he had cosponsored legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that would grant public access to the financial disclosures of Dr. Anthony Fauci and other certain government officials.

The “Financial Accountability for Uniquely Compensated Individuals (FAUCI) Act,” sponsored by U.S. Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas), is the lower chamber’s companion legislation to a bill filed in the U.S. Senate.

According to Carl’s congressional office, the FAUCI Act would make public a list of confidential financial disclosure filers whose salary is equal to or greater than that of a member of Congress. The public information would include the filer’s name, position and salary.

Specifically included in the bill is the mandated public reporting of financial disclosures for special consultants, which is Fauci’s employment classification as White House chief medical advisor.

Carl in a release outlined his support for the bill and called for more transparency relating to the financial records of government officials.

“The American people should have full access to the financial disclosures and investments of government officials who are earning a taxpayer salary,” stated Carl. “Unfortunately, bureaucrats like Dr. Fauci often hide their financial records from the public and avoid accountability.”

The legislation, according to Carl, would serve as a check on the power of those who hold bureaucratic positions within the federal government.

“I’m proud to cosponsor legislation to change this broken system and bring increased transparency to the federal government,” the congressman added. “The FAUCI Act would require public access to financial disclosures of government officials who make as much or more than a Member of Congress, which is an important step to rein in the power of unelected bureaucrats and prevent them from enriching themselves off the taxpayer’s dime.”
