Tuberville: ‘China is a huge problem’

The United States needs to keep an eye on the Eastern Hemisphere, particularly China, said U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville.

Tuberville (R-Auburn) spoke on the growing threat from Beijing today at the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber Washington Update.

“People are taking their eye off of what’s going on in the eastern part of the world,” he said. “It’s China. China is a huge problem.”

Tuberville gave his view of what a war with China would look like, and how it would be different from previous conflicts that the United States has been a part of.

“We have fought these wars for 20 years on land and now this one is going to be fought with missiles and on water,” he said. “It’s totally different than what our warfighter has been involved in.”

A member of the Armed Services Committee, Tuberville also discussed some of the intelligence he has received about China.

“Everyday, being on the Armed Services Committee, we see things that come across our desk that makes you wonder how much longer it’s going to be until we get into another conflict,” he said.
