After making a bleat for freedom Monday, an adventurous goat has evaded the grasp of Mountain Brook authorities.

The goat has been gallivanting across Mountain Brook and Birmingham – making appearances everywhere from residential neighborhoods, a second-story ledge of the Montclair Hospital, and even the fairway of the Mountain Brook Country Club. 

He’s been dubbed by local law enforcement as “Billy the Kid”

Around 8:30 a.m. Monday, the billy goat reportedly made leap out of its owner’s car window on Montclair Road. The getaway sent authorities on a wild goat chase that is still underway.

Residents are sharing sightings to social media, making Billy the subject of some great content.

Despite its newfound celebrity status, the elusive goat is proving to be a master of hide and bleat. Police urge the public to be cautious and to contact them if they spot the billy goat.
