Many of Alabama’s political leaders are showing their displeasure with the commanding general of Space Command after it was revealed he bought a $1.5 million house and property in Colorado.
According to records released by U.S. Sen. Katie Britt, Gen. James Dickinson bought a 20-acre ranch in April; the $1.5 million property includes a two-story house and barn.
The Associated Press reported last month that Dickinson was instrumental in convincing Biden to keep the Space Command HQ in Colorado instead of moving it to Redstone Arsenal.
Britt (R-Montgomery) thinks Dickinson’s home purchase is proof of possible corruption by the general.
“General Dickinson is a Colorado native,” Britt said in a statement. “He graduated from Colorado State (bachelor’s) and the Colorado School of Mines (master’s). And now we’ve uncovered that he bought a 20-acre farm and 4,000 square-foot dream house in — you guessed it — Colorado.
“This $1.5 million property is just miles down the road from the interim Space Command headquarters in Colorado Springs — and he purchased it just a couple of months before recommending that Colorado be awarded the permanent headquarters.”
The senator said this issue just raises more questions on the decision to keep Space Command in Colorado.
“People across our state and nation deserve answers as to why General Dickinson and this administration ignored the Air Force’s objective recommendations, which were reaffirmed by multiple independent reviews, in favor of his retirement destination,” Britt said. “This new revelation raises more questions into the legitimacy of an already dubious decision by President Biden.”

Britt’s Senate colleague U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) also weighed in an said “More evidence that [Joe Biden]’s decision was based on politics and personal reasons, NOT military readiness.”

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) pointed to the news as proof the decision was not about what is best for national security.
More evidence this decision was not based on the best interests of our national security but on personal and political interests. https://t.co/dHT0wQMTAc

Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth said Dickinson’s actions are proof of more “dishonest, D.C double talk” on the issue.
This dishonest,D.C double talk is what we’ve come to expect from the Biden Pentagon. It’s clear that the purely political Space Command decision was made long ago. Dickinson has been dealing off the bottom of the deck, but Mike Rogers will uncover the truth https://t.co/FMIfEopB0Y
