Rock the South announces The Marshall Tucker Band & final lineup for August 13-14

CULLMAN — Preparations for the biggest party in the South are well underway as the excitement builds for the biggest and best Rock the South. Rock The South organizers are excited to announce the final lineup for August 13-14, 2021. During final preparation, organizers have been informed that Lynyrd Skynyrd has a band member who has contracted COVID and will not be able to attend Rock the South this year.

“The Rock the South team was able to pivot and within hours to quickly add another Southern rock legendary band, known for its one of a kind soulful music,” said Nathan Baugh, Partner-Pepsi Rock the South. “The Marshall Tucker Band’s influence can be felt far and wide through many respected contemporaries; they are a huge addition to this year’s lineup.”

The Marshall Tucker Band came together as a young, hungry, and driven six-piece outfit in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1972, having duly baptized themselves with the name of a blind piano tuner after they found it inscribed on a key to their original rehearsal space — and they’ve been in tune with tearing it up on live stages both big and small all across the globe ever since.

“After being back on the road for seven unstoppable weeks, we are so thrilled to perform at Rock the South,” said Doug Gray, The Marshall Tucker Band. “We can’t believe it and can’t wait to be a part of this great show.”

The band’s mighty music catalog, consisting of more than 20 studio albums and a score of live releases, has racked up multi-platinum album sales many times over. A typically rich MTB setlist is bubbling over with a healthy dose of hits like the heartfelt singalong “Heard It in a Love Song,” the insistent pleading of “Can’t You See,” the testifying “Fire on the Mountain,” the wanderlust gallop of “Long Hard Ride,” and the explosive testimony of “Ramblin.”

“We wanted to have a Southern Rock legacy artist at Rock The South and we are thrilled that The Marshall Tucker Band are bringing their (southern rock sound) to the stage,” said Shane Quick, Partner-Pepsi Rock the South. “While disappointed that Lynyrd Skynyrd cannot attend, we look forward to their recovery and the next time we can have them at Rock The South.”
