In a few days it will be exactly a year since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began. Since that time the Ukrainian military has experienced a surprising amount of success on the battlefield.
From the outset of the conflict the United States has provided funding, training, and weapons for the defense of Ukraine.
However, that success has come with some setbacks for the U.S. One of those setbacks is becoming more apparent each day for American military officials. The stock pile of weapons that would be needed for the defense of America itself has been enormously depleted.
At a meeting Wednesday, held in his Huntsville district office, Congressman Dale Strong addressed the war on Ukraine and what his concerns are going forward with supporting the country.
“Ukraine is winning this war,” stated Strong. “Russia never saw what they were getting into with the Ukrainian people.”
However, the Ukrainian’s military success, according to Strong, is harming America’s national defense.
“I want know number one, what we’re going to do about America. I understand that we are helping Ukraine knock back the Russian military, but my concern is about America.”
The congressman elaborated.
“My concern is being sure that the US military has the weapons that they need if we have to enter into any war or conflict and right now we are using a lot of hardware in other locations. I want to get that stockpile built back up because you never know when that situation may present itself.”
