Regions Bank’s Kate Danella, Amala Duggirala recognized by American Banker Magazine

Two officers with Regions Bank have been recognized by American Banker Magazine for their contributions to the Birmingham-based financial institution and the banking industry as a whole.

Chief strategy and client experience officer Kate Danella was named among the magazine’s “Top 25 Women to Watch” for the third consecutive year. Chief operations and technology officer Amala Duggirala earned a spot among female executives in operations in technology for 2021.

Regions Financial Corp. president and CEO John Turner heaped praise on the bank’s two standouts. He touched on their efforts during the height of the pandemic.

“Both Kate and Amala have made significant contributions to Regions Bank by putting the needs of our associates, customers and communities first, and I congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition,” said Turner. “Over the past 18 months in particular, they have worked collaboratively to address the most pressing customer needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic while also moving strategic projects and innovation forward.”

He added, “From enabling automation of Paycheck Protection Program loan applications, to streamlining customer financial assistance, to rapidly deploying remote work capabilities, and more, Kate and Amala are leaders who are driven by our commitment to provide quality financial services that provide a positive impact for our customers. Their leadership sets Regions apart, and this recognition affirms the results they are delivering on behalf of the people and communities we serve.”

American Banker’s “The Most Powerful Women in Banking” program has recognized the professional achievements and influence of top-performing female executives in banking and financial services for nearly two decades. Honorees are featured in the October 2021 issue of American Banker magazine.

Danella is a member of the institution’s executive leadership team and is responsible for strategic planning, digital banking, customer experience, corporate communications, corporate marketing and community affairs. For 13 years, she served as vice president for Capital Group Companies, managing more than $1.7 trillion in assets, in various leadership roles in sales, strategy, client services and marketing.

Duggirala is responsible for all aspects of Regions Enterprise Operations, information technology, and data and analytics. She has held a variety of technology-focused leadership roles throughout her career including roles at Kabbage, ACI Worldwide, Century Link and British Telecom.
