The Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America group recognized U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) recently in a letter for his work in defending unborn children.
The letter addressed a memo that U.S. Secretary of Defense Llyod Austin sent out which outlined the Department of Defense’s continued attempts to expand abortion rights.
The group disagreed with the Secretary’s actions.
“The DOD has long been a conduit for establishing and protecting freedom at home and abroad, defending vulnerable people from forces seeking to diminish their dignity, value, and even their very lives,” the letter stated.
“Yet, as the acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs admitted to you, this new policy will facilitate the cruel deaths of approximately 4,100 vulnerable unborn children every year. “
The group thanked Tuberville for “your announcement that you will place a hold on all DOD civilian and general/flag officer nominations if the Department of Defense implements the policy.”
Tuberville was not the only legislator that the group expressed gratitude towards.
“We are grateful to you and Congressman Michael Cloud (R-TX) for introducing a Congressional Review Act resolution to overturn another egregious abortion policy in Veterans Affairs that would pay for abortions in violation of federal law.”
The letter mentioned the recent Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.
“In June of last year, the Supreme Court rightly ruled in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health that abortion is not a constitutionally protected right—the people and their elected representatives may debate the issue of abortion and decide how to protect unborn children and their mothers.”
The letter closed with a final statement of thanks to Tuberville.
“We are grateful to you for using your power as a United States senator to force the Department of Defense to choose their constitutional mission over Biden’s unlawful and aggressive pro-abortion agenda.”
