Coach Pearl: I’m ‘heartbroken’ by Jewish students’ campus fears

Auburn men’s basketball head coach Bruce Pearl has not been shy about his unwavering support for Israel through the country’s ongoing conflict.

Recently, he helped put together a charity event which boxed up food, supplies, and clothing for Israeli children and soldiers. According to Fox News, all of the supplies were bought out within 48 hours, and more than $7,000 was raised.

While appearing on Fox, Pearl, who is Jewish, said he is “heartbroken” about protests against Israel from college students across America.

“We have Jewish students on campus who are scared,” he said. “We said we’ve got to do something. So just a few days after October 7th we got together and said we’ve got to do something.

“So I contacted my friends at Athletes for Israel, the Church of the Highlands here in our community along with our Jewish student group here Hillel, and we got together and said let’s do something positive. Let’s write notes for soldiers and children and moms and do something positive in support of our greatest ally Israel.”

Pearl has repeatedly called the attacks on Israel from Hamas “a genocide” and the “world’s greatest genocide since the Holocaust.”
