Palmer outraged over Alabamians in Israel having to pay their own way home

Chaos in the Middle East spurred by brutal attacks from Hamas against Israel has left thousands dead and wounded. While stories of Alabamians making a safe return home in the wake of the conflict have offered hope, an untold number of Alabama residents are among the Americans still trying to secure their way home.

Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) said he’s working to get them home, despite an unhelpful U.S. State Department.

“My focus right now, and again this morning, is trying to get Alabamians out, Americans, out of Israel. There’s a couple from Birmingham that are over there right now, I talked to him this morning,” Palmer told radio host Scott Beason.

“And they’ve gotten very little help from the embassy. The embassy doesn’t answer the phone.

“And they finally responded by email – and can’t talk about what the plans are for getting them out there – but what they told them was that they would have to pay for it.”

It was reported that a group from Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia Hills made it home after the fighting broke out.

Palmer shared his outrage at the ineffectiveness of the Biden administration to not only ensure the safe return of Americans caught in the crossfire, but also the policies that brought the world to its current point.

He learned Biden instructed $75 million to be sent to the Palestinians just hours before the attack, supposedly for food aid. All the while Americans are being forced to pay for their own return.

“This is the most corrupt administration, the most dangerous administration in the history of the United States,” Palmer said, saying none of this would have happened under the Trump administration.

“If he had been reelected, we wouldn’t have had the disastrous pull out in Afghanistan, which I think led directly to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I think it’s put more pressure on Taiwan from China. I don’t think any of this stuff would be going on.”
