The deadline to enter the Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest is drawing near. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced entries must be submitted by Oct. 31.
The annual contest features 10 categories using traditional photography techniques and handheld cameras. It is sponsored by the Conservation Department and state Tourism Department.
Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest Categories:
- Alabama State Parks
- Birds
- Bugs and Butterflies
- Cold-blooded Critters
- Nature-Based Recreation
- Scenic
- Shoots and Roots
- Sweet Home Alabama
- Wildlife
- Young Photographers (ages 17 and under)
No cellphone, smartphone, game camera, or drone photography will be chosen in nine of the 10 categories. Smartphone and tablet photos will only be accepted in the Young Photographers category.
The contest is open to Alabama residents and visitors. Participants can enter all 10 of the allowed photos in one category or among several categories.
First place, second place, third place and honorable mention will be awarded in each category. Winning images will be featured online and in a traveling exhibit across the state next year.
