O’Reilly covers Yellowhammer’s Ben Carson story

Yellowhammer broke the story earlier this week that Dr. Ben Carson was targeted by the Internal Revenue Service after his famed National Prayer Breakfast speech, which launched him into the national spotlight.

“I had my first encounter with the IRS this year, unsurprisingly after the Prayer Breakfast,” Carson said Monday night at the Business Council of Alabama’s Chairman’s Dinner.

Since then, multiple national media outlets have picked up Yellowhammer’s story, including The Washington Times, Daily Caller, and The Drudge Report.

On Wednesday night, Carson appeared on Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor” to discuss the details of the story Yellowhammer broke.

“They wanted to investigate some property, some investment property that I had,” Carson told O’Reilly. “And they came and found that all the i’s were dotted and all the t’s were crossed and then they said well let’s just do a general audit of everything and that was ok. And I say well let’s look at another year. And that was OK.”

O’Reilly responded that it could have all just been a coincidence.

“Well, let’s put it this way,” Carson said, “I’ve never had anything before this with the IRS and nothing has changed.”

Carson said the IRS did not find anything amiss and he did not have to pay any penalties.
