No. 1 Alabama falls to No. 11 Tennessee

First, it was football. Now it’s basketball.

Last night the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers beat the No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide 68-59 at Thompson-Boiling Arena in Knoxville. The Vols were in search of a win after back to back losses.

Vols guard Santiago Vescovi spoke about the teams resilience.

“Personally, I think we are in a bad streak and having tonight kind of turned over the page.” said the guard. “It was a good feeling for me and the whole team, I think. We are good. We are not worried about it.”

Rick Barnes, Tennessee’s Head Coach, was proud of his teams effort.

“You guys might think I’m crazy, after those tough losses, these guys stayed with it,” said Barnes. “They didn’t splinter. They stayed together.”

Alabama head coach, Nate Oats, offered his praise for the Vols.

“Tennessee proved why they’ve got the No. 1 defense in the country.”

“It was their physicality. They got into our guards. We didn’t handle it well.”

Tennessee will now face the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington, while Alabama will play Georgia in Tuscaloosa.
