Moore: Judiciary Committee will hold DOJ accountable

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) believes it’s time for Congress to act and stop the weaponization of the U.S. Department of Justice.

The congressman said the latest indictment against former President Donald Trump is just the latest example of the politicization of the DOJ.

Moore, who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, discussed the issue on NTD News Friday.

“The concern again is the weaponization of the FBI and DOJ,” Moore said, “as we begin to look on Judiciary. When we’re looking back to originally Crossfire Hurricane, they used FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign, and we were assured the FBI kind of cleaned up their act, that they we’re doing better … and then when you look at this recent arrest of the president … It’s concerning for us when they tell us they’ve cleaned up their act and they continue to do the same thing.”

The congressman said the DOJ isn’t just abusing its power to target Trump, but also to go after other conservative groups.

“[W]hether they’re going after pro-life Christians,” he said, “if they’re gong after parents, if they’re going after churches, parishioners in Catholic Churches, and now going after political opponents, that’s always a concern for liberty when you have the weaponization of the Justice Department, and that’s kind of what we’re seeing.”

Moore said he hopes he kind find more answers from Special Counsel John Durham when he testifies to the Judiciary Committee this week.

“So John Durham is coming in and my staff is going through the report, I’ll be looking at a condensed version as I travel this weekend,” he said. “I think we need to connect the dots for the American people  to show the abuses and say ‘hey, here’s what went on with the FBI. Here’s how it was weaponized against a presidential candidate. [These] are things that the American people need to understand so we can connect the dots so that we can actually hold them accountable going forward.”

He also said this about protecting American liberty.

“We cannot allow for whoever these people are that are pulling the strings that are shaking us and dividing us, we’ve got to put them aside,” he said. “We’ve got begin to communicate and get along and understand that liberty is for everyone and we’ve got to prepare that and pass that along to the next generation.”
