Auburn’s Recreation and Wellness Center is a massive 73,000 square foot building with more amenities than a student could ever take advantage of over four short years on The Plains. Here are just a few of the facility’s features:

• 1/3-mile indoor track, which has been called “the longest indoor track in the U.S.”
• 50-foot rock-climbing wall
• A bouldering cave
• A leisure pool with a dive well and wet rock-climbing wall
• A multipurpose basketball gym
• Over 200 group fitness classes and programs
• A “Tower of Fitness,” with each level of the tower catering to different workout regimen
• Rows upon rows of free weights and machines
• …The list could go on and on.

Here’s a brief video tour of the facility:

So with that kind of setup, it’s no wonder that Auburn’s Recreation and Wellness Center is starting to get recognized around the country. Most recently, Men’s Health Magazine listed the Auburn Rec on its annual list of “The coolest college recreation centers in America.”

“These multi-million dollar facilities will make you wish you had a few more credits to earn,” Men’s Health said of their list. Here’s what they had to say about Auburn specifically:

One of the most recently renovated collegiate gyms in the country, Auburn’s Recreation and Wellness Center houses all the latest fitness trends under one roof, from black-light disco-ball cycling rooms to the latest in open-air architecture. “In the core of their building, Auburn has a large elevator shaft 3-stories high,” says David Frock of NIRSA. “It houses live plants and is a peaceful garden in the middle of the rec center.” A 1/3-mile track with elevation changes winds its way through the entire center, giving runners an ever-changing scene as they jog. A golf simulator and game room complete the gym’s mix of fitness studios, game courts, climbing wall, and aquatic complex.
