Leigh Hulsey announces bid for Alabama House of Representatives District 15

Businesswoman and Helena City Councilor Leigh Hulsey on Wednesday announced the launch of her campaign for the Alabama House of Representatives, District 15.

She is seeking the Republican nomination for a seat currently held by State Rep. Allen Farley (R-McCalla), who is not seeking reelection.

Hulsey is the owner of CrossFit Alabaster and president of the Alabaster Business Alliance. She is also the vice president of campaigns for the Republican Women of North Shelby County and a member of the Shelby County GOP Executive Committee.

“I love giving back and serving my community, and I would be honored to serve in the Alabama House,” said Hulsey. “We need an outsider who is ready to go to Montgomery and work hard for the people of Alabama.”

Hulsey slammed President Joe Biden’s policies and indicated that her business experience would prove beneficial to her service in the legislature.

“Joe Biden’s failure is more proof that our country needs people with real-world experience in office, and my time as a small business owner has prepared me to tackle the challenges our district, state, and nation are facing,” she advised. “The citizens of District 15 deserve a God-fearing, qualified, conservative, pro-jobs leader fighting for them.”

Her campaign noted the candidate’s involvement concerning budgeting, economic development and infrastructure projects as an elected member of municipal government.

She concluded, “Being a Councilmember, small business owner, and employer has prepared me to be active on day one in further growing jobs and opportunity in our community.”

Hoover Councilman Steve McClinton sang Hulsey’s praises, saying the city “is blessed to have such a strong conservative and experienced leader in Leigh Hulsey running for this House District.” He added, “She will be an excellent State Representative.”

Hulsey was a candidate in the House District 73 special election, where she lost the primary runoff by 63 votes to State Rep. Kenneth Paschal (R-Pelham). During the race, her candidacy carried the support of the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) and the Business Council of Alabama (BCA).

House District 15 includes portions of Hoover, Helena, McCalla and Bessemer. The primary election is scheduled for May 24, 2022.
