League of Southeastern Credit Unions endorses Dale Strong for Congress

MADISON — The League of Southeastern Credit Unions has officially endorsed Madison County Commission chairman Dale Strong’s Republican candidacy for Alabama’s fifth congressional district.

The regional trade association, which represents the interests of credit unions in Alabama, Florida and Georgia, offered its endorsement of Strong’s congressional bid on Friday at Family Security Credit Union in Madison.

In a statement outlining the association’s endorsement of Strong, League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates CEO Patrick La Pine praised the candidate for his “unwavering commitment” to his constituents.

“We are incredibly proud to endorse Chairman Dale Strong in his bid to represent the 5th Congressional District,” stated La Pine. “Strong has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to standing up for Alabama businesses and consumers.”

La Pine added, “Throughout the pandemic, it became especially apparent just how vital the relationships between credit unions and federal offices are. In the last two years, we proudly worked with Congress to save nearly 10,000 jobs through Paycheck Protection Program loans and protect businesses through the issuance of more than $886 million in small business loans. We look forward to continuing our work with Dale Strong to help Alabamians achieve financial success and independence.”

In accepting the league’s endorsement, Strong slammed President Joe Biden over his fiscal and economic policies and advised that North Alabama deserved a “hardworking conservative” as its next congressional representative.

“I am honored to have this endorsement and when elected to Congress, I will fight Joe Biden’s fiscal policies that are clearly not working for our banks, credit unions, businesses, and families,” proclaimed Strong. “We are facing the highest inflation in forty years and it is unacceptable. The people of North Alabama deserve a hardworking conservative who will fight for what is right.”

“The Joe Biden Economy is not working for America. As your voice in Washington, I will work to support businesses and get our economy back on track,” he added. “I am grateful to have the endorsement of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and look forward to working with them when elected.”

The trade association joins the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) and the Alabama State Fraternal Order of Police in supporting Strong’s congressional bid.

The primary election will take place on May 24, 2022.
