U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan moved his bid for Speaker of the House forward by securing the endorsements of key members of the House Republican Conference, who happen to represent Alabama.
Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), a personal friend and fellow Freedom Caucus member with Jordan (R-Ohio), was the first to publicly announce his support, shortly after former Rep. Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker.
President Trump has endorsed Judiciary Chairman @Jim_Jordan for Speaker of the House. I believe we should listen to the leader of our party.
I know Chairman Jordan will help us get real wins for the American people, and I fully support him for Speaker of the House.

After initially saying there was “nothing” Jordan could do to earn his support, citing fundamental disagreements over substance and policy, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) formally endorsed Jordan’s bid for Speaker on Monday.
.@Jim_Jordan and I have had two cordial, thoughtful, and productive conversations over the past two days. We agreed on the need for Congress to pass a strong NDAA, appropriations to fund our government's vital functions, and other important legislation like the Farm Bill. (1/3)

The latest endorsement rolled out, which secured Alabama’s GOP delegation for Jordan, was Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) who announced his support at a press conference in Huntsville.
From day 1, I’ve called for a conservative Speaker who will prioritize fighting Biden’s failed policies. From cutting spending, to securing our border— the American people want Congress to get to work. Jim Jordan is the right man to lead our conference as Speaker of the House.

Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) endorsed Jordan last week, saying his record as a conservative is “unquestioned.”
.@Jim_Jordan is the strong conservative voice we need to unite the Republican Conference at this time.

Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) said he voted for Jordan in the private conference ballot last week and will do it again when he’s on the floor for a vote.
I voted for Jim Jordan for Speaker this past week in our Republican Conference, and I will be supporting him this week when the vote comes to the House Floor. We’ve got to unite behind a conservative Speaker who can unite us and move this country forward.

Going into the weekend, Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) said he told Jordan he’d have his support.
I told @Jim_Jordan on Friday that I fully support him to be the 56th Speaker of the House.

The endorsement pick-up by Rogers was heavily reported by Washington outlets, as it marked a notable compromise on spending priorities, such as the National Defense Authorization Act, which will quickly follow the election of a new Speaker.
In a conference vote Friday, Jordan secured his nomination in a 124-81 vote. However, when the conference was put to the question of supporting the nomination on the floor, it yielded a 152-55 result, short of the 217 votes needed to win in the first round.
