Grant adds treatment options for Alabamians fighting opioid addiction

A $1.5 million federal grant has been made available to the AL Department of Mental Health and will help make addiction-fighting medication an option to patients lacking insurance.

The addiction-fighting medication, normally costing $200 to $300, will be closer to $5-10 for those who qualify.

The grant is meant to keep addiction patients in treatment programs to increase success rates and decrease relapse cases.
