Gov. Kay Ivey slams health gossip, says media seemingly wants to ‘will these rumors into being’

On Monday, Gov. Kay Ivey once again dispelled rumors perpetuated by the media that she was experiencing health issues.

Earlier this month, Alabama Media Group published an opinion piece authored by left-wing columnist Kyle Whitmire, who detailed his efforts to inquire with the governor’s office concerning Ivey’s health due to her lack of public appearances.

In response to the liberal outlet, Ivey’s office dismissed the gossip as “bogus rumors.”

During a tour of Dalraida Elementary School’s STEM Laboratory in Montgomery, Ivey made herself available to present media for questioning.

When asked if she had underwent any medical procedures or treatments of late, Alabama’s 54th chief executive wasted no time in assuring reporters that she held “a clean bill of health.”

“Between the rumor mills and some of you guys in the media it seems like some of you just want to will these rumors into reality and existence,” Ivey suggested. “But I assure you I am fine. Every day I give thanks to God for giving me a clean bill of health and I look forward to serving as governor for another four years. I enjoy being governor and if you see this innovation lab today, there is certainly more work to do. So I look forward to going full speed ahead.”

When asked another health-related question, Ivey suggested that the media seemingly desired to “will these rumors into being.” However, the governor advised that it “just isn’t going to happen.”

“It just seems like a lot of you just want to will these rumors into being, and that just isn’t going to happen,” the governor quipped. “I’ve got a clean bill of health from the doctors. That’s what matters and I’m looking forward to serving four more years as your governor.”
