Doug Jones takes credit for Alabama Toyota-Mazda plant

Per a report by Alabama Media Group, Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) is taking credit for the $1.6 billion Toyota-Mazda plant that is under-construction in Huntsville.

“Clearly, if you get down to the bottom of it, that plant would not have come to Alabama with Roy Moore sitting as United States senator,” Jones claimed at a Democratic campaign rally this week.

Jones, referring to his election in December 2017, added, “We started changing the dynamic of this state and [are] reaping the benefits now. I don’t think there is any question about it.”

The decision by Toyota and Mazda to build their joint-plant in Alabama came before Jones took office.
