The 7 Things You Should Be Talking About Today

1. President Donald Trump has an immigration plan; both the Left and Right hate it

— The plan calls for 1.8 million illegals to get citizenship and a $25 billion dollar investment in security.

— Nancy Pelosi called the plan “cruel” while his supporters have called it “amnesty”.

2. The New York Time alleges the president wanted to fire Mueller; President Trump denies

— Allegedly, the president sought to remove Mueller to end the investigation into the president’s campaign and transition, but was stopped by the White House legal team.

— In Davos, Trump was asked about this allegation and he called it “fake news” and “typical New York Times fake stories”.

3. Alabama Senate passes a tax cut

— Up to 182,000 tax filers could see a part of a $4 million dollar tax plan passed by the Alabama State Senate, 28-0.

— The bill moves the standard deduction from $20,000 to $23,000 dollars for married couples, with similar plans for single filers planned.

4. State Senator Bill Holtzclaw ends his campaign for Congress in north Alabama’s 5th District

—  Holtzclaw said, “I want to extend my thanks to the many supporters for the early efforts in helping with this campaign,” and “I am honored by the support and financial contributions we have received and will be returning contributions in the coming weeks.”

— With Holtzclaw exiting the race, Congressman Mo Brooks will face Clayton Hinchman and Mark Sweeny in the GOP Primary in June.

5. Huntsville Mayor and candidate for governor Tommy Battle is advocating for a vote on the lottery

— Responding to a question about the lottery, Battle seemed to support a lottery and said, “Lottery needs to go to a vote of the people”.

— The questioner was asking about an education lottery, but Battle said he could see the funds going elsewhere, including “mental health, prisons, scholarships, or infrastructure”.

6. Alabama teacher who dropped the n-word in class has resigned

— Teddie Butcher was placed on leave on Monday for telling a room full of students to “turn the n-word tunes off”.

— The Hoover School Board voted to accept the resignation, but the Superintendent continues to meet with students “hurt” by the incident.

7. Democrats’ obsession with illegals knows no bounds

— New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wants DREAMers in his state to receive free tuition at state colleges.

— The plan would cover DREAMers of families with incomes of up to $125,000.
