CBS floats Britt as Trump running mate, cuts her off when she talks about his policies

On Monday, U.S. Senator Katie Britt joined CBS “Mornings” to share her perspective about a possible ceasefire in the Middle East and excitement for the release of her memoir, God Calls Us to Do Hard Things.

But when CBS hosts asked Britt if she was interested in signing onto the VP slot of former President Donald Trump’s 2024 election ticket – they suddenly ran out of time.

When Britt shared that she is the youngest and only female Republican in the United States Senate with school-aged children, host Tony Dokoupil asked a question on many viewers’ mind: “Would you be interested in running with Donald Trump on a Republican ticket?”

“Oh, goodness. I am just working hard in the U.S. Senate,” Britt said. “And we’re working hard to bring those policies back in place, honestly. Under President Trump, our border was more secure…”

“Senator,” the host interrupted.

“We were more peaceful…” Britt continued.

“I’m sorry, they’re going to take us off,” he said, bringing the interview to a close.

Hosts were interested in Sen. Britt’s latest stance on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, to which she said, “No.”

“I think if you have a pause, I have heard the Israeli government say that it would be to get the hostages out, and that I understand. But calling for a ceasefire when these people say that they will do it again and again until the State of Israel is eradicated until the Jewish people are eradicated, guys, you cannot ask the people of Israel to tuck their kids in at night knowing that this could occur at any moment,” Britt said.

Moments later, the anchors didn’t seem to want to hear about a time when Britt believed the situation was better handled.
