C Spire expands ‘fiberhoods’ in south Alabama

C Spire is accelerating its already massive growth throughout the Yellowhammer State with its latest move in south Alabama.

The broadband juggernaut opened an office and a warehouse Thursday to help its continued fiber expansion in the Baldwin County-Mobile County area.

“What we’re doing right now is aggressively expanding fiber connectivity to residents and businesses,” said Jim Richmond, vice president of Corporate Communications and Marketing Operations. “Specifically, in the Baldwin County and Mobile County areas we are really working extremely hard. That is a big important area for us – about 32% of what we call fiberhoods that we are currently engineering. In other words, that we are in the planning stages to build it out, 32% of what we are doing across the state of Alabama is right now in those two counties.

“So, this location actually allows us to have the actual fiber and other needed materials much closer to these areas that we’re building out – it helps with the supply chain slope, it really allows us to move faster so we can get to more customers faster in that particular area.”

The new office and warehouse will be 17,000 square feet and is centrally located near coastal businesses and residential customers.

The office features seven offices for the sales team, fiber team, technicians; a conference room; and a large entry and foyer with open office space floor plan.

The warehouse will house custom network equipment, as well as fiber and fiber equipment.

Lee Lawson, the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance president and CEO, and Jake Cowen, senior vice president and general manager of C Spire, were the speakers at the ceremony.

The company is in the middle of a $500 million investment throughout the state.
