With Alabama taking on South Florida this week and coming off a dreadful performance against Texas, many speculated whether or not Nick Saban could look to change things up at the quarterback position.

John Talty of 247Sports was the first to report the likely reality that Buchner would be starting. ESPN’s Chris Low also reported the move. Low had the original report on the eve of week one that Jalen Milroe would be the starter.
There had been buzz this week about Buchner being worked in with the first team and, according to Talty, Buchner had taken more first team reps than Jalen Milroe this week.
If there was a time to make the change, right now would be ideal. South Florida should not present much of a challenge and would give a new quarterback legitimate game reps to get ready for Ole Miss the following week back in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Saban was anything but subtle throughout the week to the media, stating that he did think about making a change during the Texas game but ultimately decided against it. Of course, Saban himself has yet to confirm the change, but all signs seems to be pointing in this direction.
“If guys want security, they need to play well,” Saban said this week.
