MOBILE, Ala. — Bruce Willis is one of the most well known action movie stars in the world, and he’s in search of extras for his next thriller, which is set to be filmed right here in Alabama.
The flick, Extraction, will begin filming next month in the Mobile area, and they’re looking for paid extras.
According to the description in the casting call, Extraction is about “the kidnapping of a former CIA operative (Bruce Willis). Willis plays a widower whose son, Harry, is also involved with the CIA. The pair was working on the development of a new weapon when the kidnapping happens. Realizing that there is no plan to achieve the release of his father, Harry mounts his own rescue mission and discovers a conspiracy along the way.”
The film is one of many which have made use of Alabama’s relatively new film incentives. The tax credits received by filmmakers who shoot in Alabama are credited with bringing 25 films and 10 reality shows to the state since the Entertainment Industry Incentive Act was implemented in 2011.
Selma, the most recent Alabama film to make headlines is nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.
Prior to the Alabama film incentives being in place, there were several movies, including Academy Award winner Forrest Gump, and Reese Witherspoon’s Sweet Home Alabama, depicted in Alabama which were actually shot elsewhere.
