Alabama’s largest pro-life group endorses Wes Allen for secretary of state

State Rep. Wes Allen (R-Troy), candidate for Alabama Secretary of State, has scored the endorsement of the Yellowhammer State’s largest pro-life group.

Alabama Citizens for Life, an affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, announced that it was supporting Allen’s candidacy due to his legislative efforts to usher pro-life measures into law.

Allen, who was recognized by the organization as holding a 100% pro-life voting record, was a cosponsor of the Alabama Human Life Protection Act. Throughout his political tenure, Allen has been widely regarded as one of the most socially and culturally conservative lawmakers in the legislature.

In a statement announcing the endorsement, Allen pledged to remain steadfast in his efforts to protect the rights of the unborn.

“I am honored to be endorsed by the largest and most dedicated pro-life organization in our state,” said Allen. “Life begins at conception and every life is precious. I am, and have always been, pro-life and that will never change.”

The following was sent in the form of a letter to Allen from Alabama Citizens for Life:

Dear Representative Wes Allen,

Alabama Citizens for Life proudly endorsed you as “The Pro-Life Candidate” for Alabama Secretary of State in the 2022 election. Your co-sponsoring the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, and advocating for other respect life bills have been a blessing for all in Alabama.

You have worked diligently for protecting women and preborn babies and have our respect and appreciation as a defender for life. We sincerely appreciate your consistent life ethic as demonstrated by your 100% pro-life voting record including religious liberty and protection for the elderly and disabled.

We count on your assistance restoring legal protection for innocent life – unborn children and medically disabled or dependent persons whose lives are threatened by abortion or euthanasia in Alabama. The countless Alabamians who respect the sanctity of human life are grateful for your willingness to serve.

Alabama Citizens for Life, the state affiliate of The National Right to Life Committee urges all voters in Alabama to vote for you in the May 24, 2022 primary and in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Allen, a former Pike County probate judge, is seeking to replace term-limited Secretary of State John Merrill as Alabama’s chief elections official.
