BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Alabama’s first craft brewery, Good People Brewery is in the running for best craft brewery in the country right now, making it to the “Elite Eight” round on website Thrillist’s bracket.

“We are just so excited to be included on this nationally recognized website’s list,” Good People spokeswoman Lauren McCurdy told Yellowhammer Thursday afternoon.

While Good People has a slight edge over its competition in the bracket at this level, voting is still open until 11:59 Monday night to see who will make it to the next round.

Good People opened in 2008, when Alabama legalized beer breweries for the first time since Prohibition, making their first sale on July 4th of that year, as any good American company would. Their beers are now consistently among the highest rated beers in the region.
