Alabama Truckers Association endorses Brad Tompkins in House District 15 race

Brad Tompkins, Republican candidate for the Alabama House of Representatives District 15, recently announced that his bid had been endorsed by the Alabama Trucking Association.

House District 15 is a seat currently occupied by State Rep. Allen Farley (R-McCalla), who has opted against seeking reelection. The district includes portions of Jefferson and Shelby Counties.

Mark Colson, president and CEO of the Alabama Trucking Association, in a statement touted Tompkins’ private sector experience.

“Brad Tompkins is a conservative businessman who built a successful engineering firm from the ground up,” stated Colson. “Brad is an outsider with real-world experience who understands the needs of Alabama’s diverse economy. He’s a can-do businessman who successfully navigated his firm through the pandemic and will continue the fight to make Alabama’s economy open for business and competitive to a diverse workforce.”

Tompkins is the owner of engineering company Automated Solutions, Inc., a firm that specializes in factory automation.

Tomkins extended his appreciation to the association for endorsing his candidacy and hailed the role truckers play in supporting Alabama’s economy.

“The Alabama Trucking Association represents a vital segment of our economy, and I am honored to have their endorsement,” stated Tompkins. “If we learned anything during these past few years, it’s that our supply chain is strained, and we need to get government out of the way so products reach the consumer. Alabama’s truckers play a vital role in delivering goods, keeping costs down, and providing good-paying jobs for thousands of Alabama families. I’ll be an advocate for their needs in Montgomery, fighting for a better infrastructure, and stopping an ever-encroaching government.”

Tomkins and Helena City councilwoman Leigh Hulsey are the only Republican candidates seeking election to the open House seat.

The primary election is slated to occur on May 24, 2022.
