SYLACAUGA, Ala. — Brian Ogle, a 17 year-old Alabama high school student, was beaten last Friday night after publishing several “Blue Lives Matter” posts on his Facebook page following the recent controversial police shootings. Ogle’s mother, Brandi Allen, now claims that what happened to her son was a hate crime.
“Not knowing if my son is going to make it to his 18th birthday this month, I don’t know if anybody can understand what that feels like,” Allen told ABC 33/40.
Ogle is currently in critical condition. He has sustained both severe trauma to the head and a fractured skull.
Allen alleges that her son was beaten in a parking lot because he made his pro-police posts on Facebook. Ogle made a series of posts supporting police officers after several of his classmates wore “Black Lives Matter” t-shirts to school.
Sylacauga PD reports that he was attacked by multiple people in a parking lot and then abandoned. While the police believe that the beating is a result of rising racial tensions at the school, they have found no evidence that Black Lives Matter contributed to the incident.
“I want to see them in jail, this most certainly is a race issue, it’s a hate crime.” Allen said. “I want them punished to the fullest extent, to the fullest, my son could have lost his life. I won’t stop until they are punished.”
Over the weekend, authorities began an investigation, and conducted interviews of various family members and persons of interest. No arrests have been made at this time.
