Alabama just built the most romantic campsites ever, and the Internet is going nuts

Alabama’s 6,150 acre Gulf State Park has long been a beloved vacation destination for people from all over the world. With 2.5 miles of white sand beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, fresh and saltwater fishing and swimming, rental cottages, nature trails, a zip line course, hundreds of campsites and an 18-hole golf course, the park has something for just about everyone.

But none of the park’s many amenities have sparked the kind of viral Internet buzz that its most recent announcement has.

In an effort to appeal to campers who prefer a more “primitive” campsite — as opposed to the sites with electrical, water, and sewage hook-ups — Gulf State Park announced late last week that they have created new “Outpost Campsites.”

“Come reserve your spot at our new Outpost Campsites in the Gulf State Park at Cotton Bayou Trailhead!” A post on the Park’s Facebook page proclaimed. “This spot is ideal for those who love to primitive camp. Each tent is already set up for you and has 4 cots. The Outpost has a sink that can be used to wash dishes and provide water. This is a primitive camping area- no electric and you have to walk in. Each tent is $50 plus tax per night. Call 251-948-7275 to reserve your campsite.”

In just a matter of days, almost 10,000 Facebook users have shared the images below. If your idea of a romantic getaway includes a night under the stars in a secluded area near the world’s most beautiful beaches, you’ll probably see why.
