MOBILE, Ala. — The Emmy-nominated, nationally syndicated television show, Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford, topped its all-time ratings record, reaching 1.75 million weekly viewers during May 2015 Nielsen sweeps ratings. These numbers represent a 17% increase over the show’s previous audience record.

The show is in its 17th broadcast season and is produced locally in Mobile, where 90 percent of the episodes are filmed.

Host Danny Lipford attributes the show’s continued growth and popularity to its realistic approach. “Homeowners are looking for good information from a trusted source to help them maintain and improve their homes,” Lipford said in a press release. “With its 17-year history of delivering practical, easy-to-understand advice, Today’s Homeowner is a natural fit. We’re very excited about launching the 18th season of the show and think that our viewers will enjoy some of the creative topics and on-air shenanigans that we have in store.”

In March, Lipford published a list of top ten “must-do’s” for homeowners, adding to his reputation for helpful realism.

Today’s Homeowner is a national, multi-media home improvement brand anchored by the Emmy-nominated television show which airs on 205 stations across the country and reaches 1.75 million viewers each week. The show’s Alabama markets are:

• WKRG Mobile
• WBMA Birmingham
• WTVY Dothan
• WHNT Huntsville
• WCOV Montgomery

The brand also includes a weekly syndicated radio show and radio features airing on more than 160 stations across the U.S. and the brand’s website, TodaysHomeowner.com, drawing over 1.8 million unique monthly viewers.

With a show as successful as his, Lipford could go almost any place in the country to produce his program. But at the end of the day, he just loves Mobile, Alabama.

“Sure, with a national TV show we could be anywhere, but over the past 17 years I’ve found the easy-going and genuine spirit of this community fits in so well with the style of the show,” Lipford told Yellowhammer News. “With Today’s Homeowner’s success, I do travel frequently, but I always enjoy making my way back home to family and friends. Plus, the business-friendly setting in our state has definitely played a part in my decision to continue operating out of Mobile – as long as the airport stays open, I’ll be around for a while!”

Today’s Homeowner is the highest-rated syndicated home improvement TV show on the air and will kick off its 18th season with a “Grab Your Garage” episode premiering the week of September 14, 2015.
