Alabama had its annual postseason awards banquet Sunday night and handed out a dozen or so awards to various members of the team.
Some were voted on by the coaches, but many were voted on by the players themselves.
Amari Cooper was named the team’s most valuable player, as well as co-offensive player of the year, alongside quarterback Blake Sims. Landon Collins, Amari Cooper, Jalston Fowler and Blake Sims were named the permanent captains of the 2014 team, and will be honored in cement with their names and handprints in concrete before next year’s A-Day Spring Game.
Sims was also named the most inspiring player, which is given to the player “who affects the whole team by his attitude as well as his performance,” and was one of four players given the President’s Award for showing “perseverance in making outstanding contributions to the team’s success,” along with Ryan Kelly, T.J.
