Alabama Farmers Federation announces string of endorsements for state legislature races

FarmPAC, the political arm of the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA), on Wednesday rolled out its first slate of endorsements for incumbents seeking reelection to the state legislature.

The ALFA endorsement is widely seen as one of the most sought after endorsements in the Yellowhammer State. The agricultural advocacy group holds significant influence as it is Alabama’s largest farm organization with the federation boasting more than 340,000 members.

Those following candidates have earned the official endorsement of FarmPAC:

  • State Sen. Clay Scofield (R-Guntersville)
  • State Rep. Steve Clouse (R-Ozark)
  • State Rep. Anthony Daniels (D-Huntsville)
  • State Rep. Danny Crawford (R-Athens)
  • State Rep. Van Smith (R-Billingsley)
  • State Rep. Tracy Estes (R-Winfield)

In accepting the federation’s endorsement, each candidate extended praise to the organization for its efforts in protecting the interests of farmers and Alabama’s robust agriculture industry. Additionally, county representatives from the federation applauded the work of each officeholder in their support of the state’s farmers.

ALFA says it uses a grassroots approach in its selection of candidates whom it chooses to lend its endorsement. The organization relies on FarmPAC endorsements from county federation boards for local elections.

Last month, FarmPAC announced its endorsement of candidates seeking election to federal and statewide offices, which the organization noted will carry through to the general election.
