Alabama climatologist crushes enviros

The environmentalists want us to believe that the more energy we produce from fossil fuels, the shorter our lives will be. But in reality, the present energy production methods drastically increase our quality and length of life. Modern energy production has nearly doubled our life expectancy and has allowed for technological advances, freedom of mobility, clean water and air, and affordable services and food.

Those are just a few of the points Dr. John Christy, a world-renowned climatologist from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, made in a presentation over the weekend at a climate change conference hosted by Rep. David McKinley (R-W.Va.).

Dr. John Christy

In his lengthy presentation, Dr. Christy completely debunked the far left’s global warming agenda — an agenda that has unfortunately begun to take hold in Alabama thanks to certain groups including the Sierra Club, the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, the SELC, AARP, and the ring-leader of the leftwing enviro movement in our state, the Alabama Environmental Council.

These groups have had success in shutting down the coal industry in other states. They are now working to do the same in Alabama by putting pressure on the Alabama Public Service Commission. The PSC is charged with regulating Alabama’s energy providers. Two members of the commission, Twinkle Cavanaugh and Jeremy Oden, have refused to cave to their demands.

Dr. Christy summed up conservative opposition to the environmentalist movement using what he called The Law of Sustainability. “If it’s not economically sustainable, it’s not sustainable,” Dr. Christy said. Environmentalist groups are asking Alabamians to buy in to the idea that sacrificing thousands of jobs and increasing energy rates to unprecedented levels are acceptable tradeoffs for implementing new “clean energy standards.” But as we pointed out above, even their claims that so-called “clean energy” will increase our quality and length of life ring hollow.

Below are some graphics from Dr. Christy’s presentation that show how false the left’s claims are that natural disasters are increasing due to global warming, temperature records are being broken more often, and the biggie: that reducing CO2 emmissions will actually have a significant impact on the Earth’s climate.

Are natural disasters and the frequency of record-high temperatures increasing?

Will drastically cutting CO2 emissions make any difference?
