First Terry Dunn’s fellow Republican Public Service Commissioners shot down his misguided attempts to execute his Chief of Staff’s (David Rountree) environmentalist pipe dream. Then Republican Governor Robert Bentley publicly came out in support of their decision. And now Republican Attorney General Luther Strange has issued a terse, one sentence response to Dunn’s letter calling for the AG to get involved in PSC business.
“Commissioner Dunn needs to focus on working with his colleagues at the Commission to do the job the people of Alabama elected him to do,” read the one sentence response Strange gave to AL.com.
All of this comes on top of articles by Yellowhammer and the Alabama Free Market Alliance, headed by RNC National Committeeman Paul Reynolds, which have called attention to Dunn and Rountree’s shenanigans.
You’d be hard pressed to find a Republican in the state of Alabama who hasn’t disavowed Dunn’s efforts. But Dunn continues to find new limbs to climb out on, and the limbs continue to break.
Today’s quote from Strange appeared in an article on AL.com written by Ben Raines, the Alabama Media Group’s environment reporter. In a recent Alabama Free Market Alliance post titled “Game plan for an environmental coup,” Raines was cited as a key player in our state’s environmentalist movement. “He has become the go-to mouthpiece for the environmentalist movement in Alabama,” the article stated.
