7 Things: Tuberville reacts to U.S. debt hitting $33T; Rogers slams colleagues holding up defense bill; and more …

7. A pretend debate is going over whether a high school band director should have ignored police trying to clear a stadium, kept playing, and fought with police in front of his students. SPOILER: He should not have done it.

6. First it was a conspiracy theory, now it is a fact. Agitator Ray Epps was caught on tape actively recruiting people to enter the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 5 and was part of the “initial breach” on the fateful day of Jan. 6. Epps has been charged with a sweetheart deal of a single misdemeanor count of disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted area. The media is still defending him.

5. Recently, Alabama’s U.S. senators co-sponsored a bill that could actually close the border if passed and members of Alabama’s House delegation is responding to a report that 2,2000 illegals entered the U.S. in one night by slamming the Biden administration border policy. U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) says, “The Biden Administration says that everything is under control. This is not under control. Our southern border is in crisis.”

4. So far, Dallas County is the only local government entity to put a mask mandate in place in 2023 in Alabama but the expectation is that we could see more follow suit. State Rep. Brock Colvin (R-Albertville) has responded by pre-filing a bill that would prohibit government-sanctioned “big brother” mask mandates, with hospitals and detention facilities exempted.

3. Another battle over the holds on military nominations and promotions by U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) looms as he prepares to push for a vote on Marine Corps commandant nominee Gen. Eric M. Smith. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has refused to move any nominees individually, but Tuberville is trying to move one on his own. This is all over President Joe Biden’s illegal policy to pay for “abortion tourism” and that policy misstep has led to 12 total abortions.

2. Five Republicans blocked the House debate on the defense bill – Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Dan Bishop (R-N.C.), Ken Buck (R-Colo.), Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) and Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.) U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks), chairman of the Armed Services Committee, delivered a rebuke calling the members “five clowns who don’t know what they want except attention.”

1. As the U.S. federal debt has now hit $33 trillion, and U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville responded by tweeting, “For $33 trillion in debt, we ought to have streets paved with gold. Instead, we have an open border, a crime crisis in our cities, failing schools, and a military that’s losing sight of its mission. We’re flat broke with too little to show for it.” He’s right.
